Syria
In April 2001 I made a visit to Damascus, Syria with my 84-year old father. This was the trip of a lifetime, and a truly memorable experience. I kept a diary of my experiences, which I reproduce here for anyone who might be interested. The diary is also available in PDF, HTML, and PS formats.
Caveat: The diary was written initally for my mother, who wanted a moment-by-moment account of my experiences. As a result the diary contains a great deal of detail and minutiae that only a mother would care about, at times devolving into a catalogue of relatives met and meals eaten. I had good intentions to edit it into a more streamlined, general-interest version, but I've never quite found time for this. So, it is what it is, and readers are asked to be charitable in the reading.
